How to host a .com.np domain with blogger without using Afraid
In this tutorial, we shall be learning to host our .com.np (or any other domain) with blogger, without using AFRAID.ORG for free DNS.
Hosting with blogger is not as easy as copying and pasting a few name servers and since Mercantile doesn’t give you full DNS control, it can be a bit tough to start with. But no worries, I’ve got you covered.
Note: I’ve gone through many tutorials on hosting .com.np with blogger and all of them were using the free DNS by afraid. When I tried using afraid, it had already discontinued giving its service so I had to find a better alternative. So, we will use a free web host and then add the CNAME records using its CPanel.
So here’s what you should do, step by step.
Firstly, go to register.com.np and go to Dashboard. There, click on active domain and click on “Edit DNS” button right next to your domain name. Then set the following name servers, as shown in the image.
ns1.epizy.com
ns2.epizy.com
Now, click on “Edit DNS” to save it. It might take some time for mercantile to review your changes.
After the DNS modification is complete, go to infinityfree.net and create a free account. On completion, you must see an option to add account/ domain. Click on it. It should look something like this:
Type your domain name on the specified field, solve the captcha, and click on create account.
Then, click on the “Open Control Panel” button. If it shows any error, go back and try again.
Now that you’re in control panel, search for “CNAME Records”. Therein, create a new record with source as “www” and destination as “ghs.google.com” as shown in the image:
For the next CNAME, open your blogger account in new tab and navigate to Settings. Under publishing, click on add third party domain and enter your domain, starting with www (e.g. www.aabhusanaryal.com.np). On clicking save, you must see some error. No worries. You just need to copy the CNAME from there.
Copy the second CNAME and paste it on the previous tab. Now, your CNAME Records should look something like this:
Please make sure that you copy these records from your blogger settings and not from this image.
That’s it. Now when you try to save your custom domain in blogger, it should simple accept it and your domain should start showing your blog. Please note that it might take a fre hours after you create those CNAMES.
Also, your web site might not work if you type in yourdomain.com.np instead of www.yourdomain.com.np. To fix this, go back to CPanel, search for “Redirects” and make “yourdomain.com.np” redirect to “www.yourdomain.com.np”. This must fix your problem.
